That itchy feeling just before a cold sore blows up and ruins that beautiful smile is a common complaint. Salves, pills, and witchcraft have all had relative success with these viral sores that pop up around the lips, nose and eyes, crusting up before disappearing.
Our low powered diode laser has a very calming and positive resolution on cold sores
Reasons for treating cold sores:
- They aren’t flattering
- While the sore is prevalent the virus is very contagious
- The virus can spread to the nose or eyes
- They can be uncomfortable
- In the wrong place- they can interfere with a dental visit
How do we fix cold sores?
Whether the laser calms the virus down so it goes back to sleep, or it encourages the skin to fight it more aggressively we don’t know, but we do know that treated soon enough a cold sore outbreak can be resolved faster, AND it appears that once treated by the laser, it doesn’t seem to come back to the same place.
Most patients remark at how comfortable the warm light feels as the healing light goes back and forth over the sore and surrounding area.
