What is dental bonding?
Have you chipped your tooth? Do you have spaces between your teeth? Do you have discrepancies in shape and size or other teeth imperfections that you would like us to fix? Have you heard of dental bonding but you’re not quite sure what dental bonding is?
Dental bonding is an inexpensive way to restore your teeth with minor dental repairs for aesthetically pleasing results. Here at Mountain Springs dental office our dentists will first apply a gentle phosphoric acid to the surface of your teeth, which etches and roughens the surface in order to help the bonding material stay in its place. This process does not hurt. After that the bonding material is placed onto the tooth’s surface, shaped and sculpted until the damage to your tooth is no longer visible. A special light is used to help the material harden, or “bond” and set in place for a permanent fix. Finally, the composite is polished and buffed for a smooth finish. What are the materials used in dental bonding?
Composite, tooth colored resin, is the material used in the procedure of dental bonding. Composite is available in a variety of shades, and because of that, it is easy to match the dental bonding using composite with the tooth in a manner that makes your tooth look and feel completely natural, like it was never even damaged!
